MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 34-year-old man from Miami-Dade’s Tamiami neighborhood faces multiple felony charges after allegedly pistol-whipping one victim and shooting another during a confrontation over stolen money and credit cards at his home, authorities confirmed in an arrest report Wednesday.
Jail records show Ruben Alexis Pastor Perrone is facing two counts of aggravated battery with a weapon or firearm causing great bodily harm and one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Two individuals drove to Pastor Perrone’s home, located near the 800 block of Southwest 127th Place, around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday to retrieve money and credit cards that had allegedly been stolen from one of them, according to the report.
When one of the victims approached the residence to discuss the stolen items, the conversation escalated and deputies said Pastor Perrone pushed him before pulling a gun from his waistband.
The second victim began retreating after seeing the weapon, but authorities said Pastor Perrone followed and struck him twice in the back of the head with the firearm, causing a laceration.
After the injured victim left the scene, they said Pastor Perrone continued pointing the gun at the other victim.
An unknown person at the scene temporarily took the gun from Pastor Perrone, leading to a fight between the suspect and the victim, according to the report.
The report stated that Pastore Perrone retrieved the gun and fired four rounds at the victim’s lower body, striking him in the right foot.
The victim then fled and later sought treatment at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, according to authorities.
Investigators said Pastor Perrone left the scene before Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived.
They said multiple shell casings were recovered and later impounded as evidence.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
As of Wednesday, he is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
