MIAMI — Law enforcement personnel were preparing to keep large crowds safe during New Year’s Eve events in the downtown city areas of South Florida.
In downtown Miami, free fireworks are at Bayfront Park, at 301 Biscayne Blvd. The hoisting of the Big Orange will be at the InterContinental Miami hotel, and Willy Chirino is set to headline a concert.
In downtown Fort Lauderdale, The Anchor drop and fireworks will be at midnight in the area of Southwest Second Street and Fifth Street. There will also be a family-friendly festival with bounce houses and face painting from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., next to the Esplanade Park, at 400 SW 2 St.
The live music: The Extasy band is set to perform from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and with The Brass Evolution from 9:30 pm to 1 a.m.
