MIAMI — From platinum hits to plate-lickin’ bites, Trick Daddy is cookin’ up more than just music these days.
The Miami legend is serving soul on a platter at his restaurant, Sunday’s Eatery.
He spoke with Local 10’s Alexis Frazier at his Miami location, but said he has a goal of opening a Sunday’s in every neighborhood in South Florida.
Sunday’s Eatery is one of the most popular soul food spots in all of South Florida.
The restaurant is co-owned by legendary rapper and Miami native Trick Daddy.
If you’re wondering how this multi-platinum selling artist started cheffing it up in the kitchen, Trick says his journey began with two pieces of bread and some deli meat.
“I’ve been cooking ever since I was about 5 years old,” Trick said. “I started off with baloney sandwiches -- fried baloney sandwiches, that’s the way.”
Trick then upped his game, leaving the sandwiches behind and firing up full course meals instead.
“I used to get a lot of views on it, so I’m like, ‘Let’s do a cooking show,’” Trick said.
Trick said the only seasoning they use at his restaurant is their special Sunday’s Seasoning.
“What do you think is the secret that keeps making people come back?” Frazier asked.
“That Sunday Seasoning,” Trick said.
