MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was hospitalized after being shot outside of a home in southwest Miami-Dade early Saturday morning, according to police.
It happened around 2:15 a.m. at a home near Southwest 34th Street and 104th Court.
Miami-Dade police said they were called to the scene after hearing reports that a gunman open fired outside of the home.
Authorities said one man was hit by the gunfire and was driven to Jackson South Medical Center by friends before police arrived at the scene.
Neighbors told Local 10 News that they heard the gunshots coming from what they described as a “house party” occurring at the home, which is often used as a short-term Airbnb rental.
A Local 10 News crew was in front of the home following the aftermath of the shooting where at least one car was left with a bullet hole.
One neighbor told Local 10 News that at least one of the bullets that the gunman fired ended up in the wall about a foot above a child’s bed in a home across the street.
They say that child was inches away from getting struck by the bullet but there were no reported injuries.
Detectives spent hours at the scene interviewing witnesses while searching for evidence.
Police have not announced any arrests at this time and have not identified the victim involved in the shooting.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
