MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 16-year-old was transferred to the Metro West Detention Center Wednesday, as he is now being charged as an adult in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last month.

According to his arrest report, Marquies McBride, of Miami, was arrested May 15, a day after the shooting, which occurred in the area of Southwest 220th Street and 115th Avenue.

Miami-Dade police said the victim was walking on the sidewalk around 1:40 p.m. May 14 when he was approached from behind by McBride, who shot him multiple times.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to Jackson South Medical Center, where he died.

McBride was found the next day at his house and was taken to the MDPD Homicide Bureau for questioning.

The rest of the publicly released arrest report was redacted.

A motive for the shooting has not been released by police, nor has the victim’s identity.

McBride faces one count of second-degree murder.

Jail records show McBride is also facing a charge of grand theft of a vehicle in connection with a separate case.

An arrest report from last year shows that McBride was arrested Dec. 31 after he was found driving a stolen 2021 Honda CRV in southwest Miami-Dade.

In that case, police said McBride initially failed to stop the SUV for police, and then bailed out of the stolen vehicle.

As of Thursday afternoon, he was being held without bond.
