MIAMI — Some would-be thieves were caught in the act by a man coming home from the airport.
The crooks even offered an apology for trying to steal the bike and actually unloaded it before taking off.
It happened back in June off Southwest Eighth Street and 19th Avenue in Miami.
Ricky Boada pulled into the parking garage to find the men, who appeared to be trying to steal a motorcycle.
“As soon as I pull in, I see there is a van there and half of a motorcycle is out of it,” said Boada.
He called 911 as the white van was trapped in the garage.
The masked driver approached Boada and asked him to not call the police. While he apologized, his accomplice unloaded the motorcycle.
“The main thing was for him to put the bike back down and not steal it,” said Boada.
The bike doesn’t belong to him, but a neighbor in his building. He said stopping the theft was just the right thing to do.
Boada did get a license plate as the crooks sped away, but believes the plate may have been fake.
The video posted on social media has more than 80,000 views.
“Bottom line was getting the bike back so this kid wasn’t making payments for the next five years,” said Boada.
Miami police said no arrests have been made in the case.
