1 dead after car gets stuck under Publix 18-wheeler in Miami Gardens

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A car crash Monday morning resulted in a vehicle getting wedged under a Publix 18-wheeler in Miami Gardens. One person has died.

Sky 10 was above the area of Miami Gardens Drive and U.S. 441 shortly after 6 a.m. as a wrecker was being used to pull the vehicle out from under the 18-wheeler.

Surveillance video taken at 3:12 a.m. shows the Publix truck leaving a nearby distribution center. The truck’s left blinkers were on as the driver was trying to make a left turn when a car driving quickly down the road, without attempting to stop, crashes into the 18-wheeler and ends up trapped underneath it.

A body was later seen being removed from the vehicle and taken away by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Miami Gardens police confirmed that a male was killed in the crash, however his identity and age have not been released.

Family members identified the victim as 39-year-old Christopher Bolden.

One family member told Local 10 News she doesn’t know what went so wrong.

The roadway was shut down for several hours but has since reopened.
