Private contractor shocked by underground electrical utility line in Weston

BSFR: Man critically injured at construction site

WESTON, Fla. – A man was rushed to a hospital Monday morning after he was shocked by an underground electrical line while working at a construction site in Weston, first responders confirmed to Local 10 News.

According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, first responders were called to the area of 2300 Glades Circle at about 9:05 a.m.

“Initial reports indicate that a private contractor was operating machinery at a construction site when the equipment may have inadvertently contacted an underground electrical utility line,” BSFR stated in a news release. “Following the contact, the adult male worker suffered an electrocution and was critically injured.”

BSFR confirmed that the victim was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

His identity has not been released.
