Deputies confirmed the threat, which occurred at 9:15 a.m. was unfounded, but still left traffic snarled for miles.

The port is located at 1015 N. America Way.

Noon report:

Cargo truck drivers who typically bypass downtown by using the tunnel found themselves lined up on surface streets instead.

“It was a nightmare,” one driver said.

Passengers trying to catch a cruise also expressed concern about missing their sailings.

“We’re just sitting here in traffic, probably 5 minutes, 10 minutes -- drivers going around, everybody’s honking, everybody’s getting crazy,” said Icuis Matthews, who was stuck in the backup.

When asked if they were worried they wouldn’t make it, Matthews replied, “Oh, definitely.”

“We were stuck in that traffic for more than an hour,” said cruise passenger Emmanuel Anaba. “We were freaking out because we had to get here before 1 p.m. but eventually we made it.”

No other information about the incident has been released at this time.
