According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, rescue units were dispatched to the business, located at 17748 NW 57th Ave., after receiving reports of a gray Volkswagen crashing into a building.

Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told Local 10’s Andrew Perez that a man in his 70s, who had stopped at a T-Mobile store to pay a bill, appeared to be feeling unwell when he accidentally hit the gas pedal outside the store and crashed into its front entrance.

Authorities said the man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition and that he is expected to overcome his injuries. No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was injured.

3:30 p.m. report:

The car was literally inside the store, even though the pillars and door frame were intact,” said Monica Rodriguez, who works nearby.

Sky 10 flew over the scene just after 10:30 a.m., where yellow caution tape surrounded the damaged storefront.

The glass of the front door of the T-Mobile store was shattered and the door is off its hinges. Crews could be seen assessing structural damage.

Authorities said Miami-Dade’s Unsafe Structures division deemed the building “unsafe” following the crash.

“Nobody was inside and it happened about five minutes before they were open,” said Xavier Thompson, who also works nearby.

No other details about the crash were immediately released.
