Surveillance video shows theft of Wilton Manors’ rainbow manatee

WILTON MANORS, Fla. — Wilton Manors police have been searching for the person behind the theft of a beloved piece of art.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows someone walking up to the rainbow manatee statue, taking it off its stand and riding off on what appears to be a scooter.

Neighbors told Local 10 the thief took the statue around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The artwork honors former Wilton Manors Mayor Justin Flippen, who died unexpectedly in 2020.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to contact Wilton Manors police or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
