The suspected killer was later found dead in a building across the street.

Noon report:

Police said the stabbing happened around 2:15 a.m. Sunday on the 34th floor of the Icon building.

“As you can tell, these are high rises so there’s a lot to investigate and a lot of doors to knock on and get more information as to what happened,” said Miami Police Officer Mike Vega.

Police used surveillance video to track the suspected stabber to a building under construction near Brickell Avenue and Southeast Fifth Street.

Detectives later brought in K-9s and drones to search the empty building for the suspect.

Hours later, officers said they found the suspect dead, and investigators said it appears he died from a fall at the construction site.

Whether the fall was intentional or accidental remains unclear.

According to police, the stabbing does not appear to be a domestic-related incident, suggesting the victim and suspect did not know each other.

Why the suspect attacked the victim and what he was doing inside the building is under investigation.

“We’re looking for the weapon or weapons that were used, because we don’t know how many weapons were used. We’re still looking for that,” said Vega. ”We’ve got three homicide teams at the (scene) going floor-by-floor, trying to locate any evidence, blood stains, blood spatter.”
