MIAMI – Three people were injured early Thursday morning in a shooting and home invasion robbery in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, police confirmed.
According to Officer Mike Vega, the shooting was reported at 12:23 a.m. at an apartment building located at 2150 N. Miami Ave.
Vega said the shooting appears to have occurred during a home invasion robbery in which three people entered an apartment unit before getting into a struggle with two victims.
According to Vega, one victim was shot in the leg and another was pistol-whipped in the head. A bullet also struck a neighbor in the leg.
Vega said one person was detained for questioning, but is not one of the people accused in the shooting and robbery.
Noon report:
The two shooting victims were transported by Miami Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Both are stable.
“I never would’ve thought this would happen, but I guess you can never be too safe,” said a south Florida resident.
No other details were immediately released.
Anyone with further information is asked to call the Miami Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
