Eco Hero winner: Aspiring conservation veterinarian to fly to Australia on Saturday

This year’s Eco Hero winner, a recent high school graduate, is flying from Miami to Melbourne, Australia on Saturday.

Brielle Martinez, who graduated from the Terra Environmental Research Institute, will be traveling for two weeks with Local 10 News Anchor Kristi Krueger and Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill.

Their itinerary starts with a visit to the Melbourne Zoo. Brielle is looking forward to seeing the Argus monitor, a large lizard found in northern Australia.

The 18-year-old aspiring conservation veterinarian’s busy agenda also includes Ayers Rock, time to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, and a visit to Sydney.
