Police said they first responded to the area of Northwest Second Avenue and 62nd Street at around midnight after receiving a ShotSpotter notification, leading them to find a wounded man; medics took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said they also found a person dead inside of a car a few blocks away, along Northwest Second Avenue and 56th Street.

Two other victims drove themselves to JMH, police said.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, described hearing a barrage of gunfire.

“We just heard a bunch of shots, and we all ran in the house. You know, we were sitting outside, and we all just ran in the house and we heard the shots. I just know it was multiple rounds,” she said. “Over 20. Over 20 rounds at least. I mean, we all are pretty much in shock about it. It’s just new people over in the neighborhood and it’s just ― it’s a lot.”

Police haven’t provided additional details about the surviving victims’ conditions.

They also haven’t identified any suspects or a motive.

Authorities did say there could be multiple suspects.

“Detectives did, in fact, mention that they do believe there are other suspects who may be involved in this incident and this is why we need our community to come forward,” Officer Kiara Delva, a Miami Police Department spokeperson, said. “Anything you might have heard or seen take place in the area of Northwest Second Avenue and 62nd Street at around midnight is urged to come forward.”
