It happened on Monday at approximately 2:46 p.m. along the 2700 block of Northwest Fifth Street in Miami.

According to Miami police, the victim was driving when he observed a mango tree outside a home, and when he approached the home, a woman greeted him and granted him permission to take some mangos.

The woman grew impatient with how long the victim was taking, police said, so she called 29-year-old Rodrigo Mendizabal to find out what was taking so much time.

An arrest form stated that the victim told the woman and Mendizabal that he would leave with no issue, but as he walked to his car, Mendizabal followed him and pulled out a gun, racking the slide while stating, “I’m going to shoot you.”

Police said Mendizabal then opened the victim’s passenger door and pointed the gun at the victim before allowing him to drive away.

According to police, while they were speaking to Mendizabal, he allowed them to view Ring camera footage which showed him following the victim to his vehicle and taking out a gun.

Mendizabal denied ever pointing the gun at the victim, police said.

Jail records show he was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a person 65 or order and improper exhibition of a firearm.

Mendizabal was given a $500 bond on the improper exhibition charge, but bond for the felony charge remains listed as to be set.
