Local 10’s Eco Hero adventures continue in the Australian Outback

ULURU, Australia – Local 10’s Eco Hero team is continuing their adventures Down Under.

Kristi Krueger, Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill and Local 10’s 2025 Eco Hero, 18-year-old Brielle Martinez, spent some time in the Australian Outback.

The Eco Hero team explored caves used by the men thousands of years ago, and others exclusively for women.

“This is their home, their land, part of their culture. They deserve for us to respect their culture,” said Martinez.

The team watched a magical sun rise over Uluru and headed deep into the desert with an Anangu family.

Ron is always up for a challenge and tried a desert delicacy. He tried a live grub, head and all!

Brielle and Kristi tried grub too, but it was roasted.

Australia has the largest population of wild camel in the world, first brought to the country by English explorers.

“This is my favorite part of the trip, just because there’s so much to learn. Everything from the plants to how they cultivate the land. How to keep it safe from fires. It really has been a phenomenal experience,” said Martinez.

Stay tuned to Local 10 News as the Eco Hero team will now head to the Great Barrier Reef.
