MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A wild pursuit unfolded Monday night as a Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempted to pull over a black pickup truck on Florida’s Turnpike in northwest Miami-Dade.
The trooper was pulling the driver over due to unsecured equipment in the bed.
Video shows that in seconds, the driver sped away, prompting the trooper to reenter his vehicle.
The truck continued down the highway at high speed, veering onto the shoulder before a PIT maneuver was executed.
According to FHP, five men ran into a wooded area.
Authorities said they arrested a 23-year-old from Mexico and an 18-year-old from Honduras with no documentation that they were in the country legally.
FHP has been cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal agencies.
Officials with ICE said they don’t have numbers on how many people they’ve arrested with local and state partners, saying the figures are fluid and change weekly.
