PLANTATION, Fla. – A man is facing first-degree murder and attempted murder charges after killing a man and wounding a woman in a shooting at a motel in Plantation over the weekend, according to police.

According to an arrest report from the Plantation Police Department, the shooting happened at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Plantation Motel at 950 S. State Road 7.

After getting a 911 call, police said officers arrived at the motel’s room #3 to find a man “lying face down in a pool of blood” and a woman shot, but “conscious and breathing.”

While being taken to the hospital, police said an officer asked the woman who shot her.

“Ronald Davis,” police said she responded.

Davis, 51, of Lauderhill, would later be taken into custody in the 12000 block of West Sample Road in Coral Springs.

Much about the incident hasn’t been publicly disclosed.

Officials with the Broward State Attorney’s Office redacted two full pages of the six-page arrest report and parts of three more, citing an exemption for “active criminal investigation information” under Florida’s public records laws.

Details about a motive or how one or both victims knew Davis weren’t included in unredacted portions of the report.

Those portions do state, however, that the woman suffered “significant blood loss” and had to undergo emergency surgery at Broward Health Medical Center.

The report also states that police hadn’t determined the man’s identity.

As of Monday, online records show Davis was being held without bond in the Broward Main Jail.
