MIAMI — An investigation remains ongoing after a fatal shooting in Little Havana.
It happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Southwest Fourth Street near 10th Avenue, where officers arrived to find two men shot.
Cell phone video obtained by Local 10 News shows the moments paramedics arrived and rushed one man to the hospital in critical condition. The second victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
That victim was identified as Juan Chaneton by his girlfriend, Enette Merced.
She said she was devastated after learning that Chaneton, a 42-year-old father of four, was killed after police said he and another man were standing along the street when a car pulled up beside them and the driver got out and opened fire.
Witnesses said the gunman took off after the shooting.
Detectives are currently working to find out why the two men were shot as residents said it appeared they were targeted.
“It was intentional,” said one witness to Local 10. “Whatever they did, they came for that person.”
Police said one person was detained, but only for questioning.
The search remains active for the gunman, and anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
