The bill includes a number of new requirements, including additional safety measures in the wake of the 2021 Surfside condo collapse. Tuesday marks four years since the tragedy.

It comes as the National Institute of Standards and Technology issues an update on its investigation into the collapse. Federal investigators have said it could likely be determined that a variety of factors played a role.

But investigators said they’ve narrowed in specifically on two areas: design understrength and misplaced slab reinforcement.

While the agency’s full report was expected to be released this month, it’s now expected to be done by 2026.
