Warm weather will remain in place this weekend. Temperatures will fall into the lower 80s overnight. While most of us will remain dry, a stray showers cannot be ruled out. Don’t cancel any outdoor dinner plans.
It will be hot again Sunday with highs reaching the lower 90s and feels like temperatures in the triple digits. Inland showers and storms cannot be ruled out by the afternoon. Hurricane Erin remains a powerful category 5 hurricane with maximum winds at 160 mph after rapidly intensifying within the last 24 hours. Flood watches are in effect for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands until Monday evening. 2-4 inches of rainfall will be possible there with isolated higher totals up to 6 inches. This storm will most likely take a turn to the north for the week ahead and track between Bermuda and the east coast of Florida. The east coast should expect indirect impacts in the form of rough surf and a risk of high rip currents.
