Aug. 17: Stay cool with high heat index

While all eyes are on Hurricane Erin pounding Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands with flash flooding, it’s a different story here closer to home as our drought conditions continue with only scattered showers in our forecast through about Tuesday.

Erin will take a track well east of SoFlo by midweek, but it might come close enough to send us a rainband or two, otherwise there’s not much rain in sight for us through the next five days. Highs will be in the lower to mid 90s and the heat index will average in the 100-105 degree range, so adjust your outdoor activities accordingly.

Stay hydrated and in the air conditioning as much as you can!
