It was a hot day before showers and thunderstorms developed. We reached 95° in Miami, just one degree shy of the record high temperature. The heat index even reached 110° in several neighborhoods this afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will occasionally develop, even into this evening. Tomorrow will have fewer showers and thunderstorms but expect it to be even hotter. Highs will reach 96° with a 105°-110° heat index at times in the afternoon. This will be the case for the rest of the week.
No direct effects from Hurricane Erin on our weather in South Florida. We have a moderate risk of rip currents with surf running less than one foot tomorrow. Large breaking waves of up to 10-feet will crash on the beaches of northern Florida.
