While it will still be hot over the coming days, with highs briefly peaking in the low 90s, the storms will be the focus of the forecast. Scattered storms are expected Thursday afternoon, some of which could last into the evening. A few could be strong, producing frequent lightning and gusty winds.

Even higher rain chances are on the way for the holiday weekend. Through Labor Day on Monday, two to five inches of rain are expected, with a few isolated neighborhoods exceeding six inches. Minor flooding will be possible in areas that become saturated. The thunderstorms will arrive in rounds, with some dry breaks in between, so it may not be a complete washout, but extended periods of wet weather are likely.
