Mom to Mom: South Florida doctor performs surgeries for mothers in need

AVENTURA, Fla. – On this week’s Mom to Mom, Local 10’s Nicole Perez sat down with a South Florida doctor who is performing surgeries free for mothers who are dealing with health complications, and it’s all to honor his mother.

Kaludia Malomsoki was one of the mothers who received a free surgery this year. She recently underwent breast reconstructive surgery to remove her 20-year-old breast implants that had been causing her severe health complications.

“It has been two weeks now and I’m having zero complications. Before that, I had nothing, just two toxic bags,” said Malomsoki.

The plastic surgeon who performed her surgery is Dr. Joshua Lampert at Lampert MD.

“I was looking for something to do, and this just kind of hit me as something we can provide to the local mothers in the community,” said Lampert.

This year, Dr. Lampert provided three mothers with free reconstructive surgery. It was part of the third annual A.L.L. For Moms Surgery Day.

Dr. Lampert gives back to mothers in need of surgery to honor his mother, Adele Lynn Lampert. He credits his mother with helping him create his plastic surgery facility and ambulatory surgery center Lampert MD Plastic Surgery.

It was not a standard breast augmentation. It’s reconstructive surgery and can be open to mothers who are in need of burn reconstruction, traumatic injuries and congenital deformities.

“So, this is a day that we do as a charity surgery day in honor of my mom who is always very proud of the surgical charity mission trips I went on when I was younger. And then she passed away around COVID, and we really didn’t have an opportunity to those charities anymore,” said Lampert.

For Malomsoki, her two decades old breast implants were causing her so much pain, she had trouble carrying her two-year-old daughter. She also said they were causing anxiety attacks three of four times a week.

“And I wasn’t able really to sleep like flat. I was always like sleeping or sitting or inclined position. And I was unable, every time when I leaned forward, you know, I always had to hold my breasts because of the pain I was experiencing,” said Malomsoki.

With a history of miscarriages, IVF treatments with hormones and a mass that required a biopsy to move forward with reconstructive surgery, her story resonated so much with Dr. Lampert, when it came time to choose the moms for charity surgery, she was at the top of his list.

Malomsoki says she is grateful to Dr. Lampert.

“Oh my God. I’m so grateful. I got my health back and I can be there for my babies. And that’s all matters,” said Malomsoki.

The surgeries are always performed on Dr. Lampert’s mother’s birthday, which falls around Mother’s Day on May 21.
