Key West commissioners vote to void agreement requiring police partnership with ICE

KEY WEST, Fla. — A busy city commission meeting was held on Monday in Key West that ended with residents standing and applauding.

After hearing public comments coming from residents inside a packed City Hall, Key West commissioners voted 6-1 to void the city’s 287-G agreement.

The 287-G agreement requires police to partner with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to a city spokesperson, the majority of commissioners approved an updated resolution that basically invalidated the city’s most recent agreement with ICE.

The previous agreement was signed in March.
