They said they soon found out that the 60-year-old was indeed a teacher, employed by Broward County Public Schools. Rogers taught physical education at Westchester Elementary School in Coral Springs, where he’s worked for more than 20 years.

Jail records show police took Rogers into custody on seven felony charges on Tuesday.

Authorities said their investigation into Rogers began on May 22 when the National Center of Missing and Endangered Children shared a tip that he was “sharing child pornography with other users through the Kik social media platform.”

They discovered Rogers’ employment after identifying him as the account holder.

“It was determined that numerous photographs located in (Rogers’) Kik account showed his office and equipment room in the school,” a police news release states. “A multitude of messages from different chat groups were also provided by Kik, where Rogers called himself a ‘pervert teacher.’”

An arrest report states “the videos generally depicted children as young as 6 years of age.”

“My favorite students are age 12 at my school,” investigators said he told another Kik user, saying he also sent users photos of “clothed students engaged in physical education.”

The report states he also sent photos taken of his genitals “while seated at his desk on school grounds.”

Police said Rogers was living out of a room at the Studio 6 Motel at 5645 N. University Drive and they arrested him there after serving a search warrant. They said they seized multiple devices.

It’s not Rogers’ first time being arrested this year; in April, he had been accused of stalking a family living next door to him at the time over a “year and a half” timeframe.

BCPS responded to Rogers’ latest arrest on Wednesday.

“Our District and school administration are deeply disturbed by the allegations and are cooperating fully with law enforcement in its investigation,” a BCPS statement reads,“ a BCPS statement reads. ”The employee had been reassigned away from the school and students in April 2025, following his off-campus arrest on a different case."

As of Wednesday, he was being held in the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail facility with no listed bond.

Authorities called the investigation active and urged anyone with information to contact Coral Springs Police Department Special Victims Unit Detective Nicole Hildebrandt at nhildebrandt@coralsprings.gov.
