Miami-Dade Animal Services seeks ‘furever’ home for Kim, other furry friends

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – From playful pups to cuddly cats, Miami-Dade County Animal Services is spotlighting adoptable animals this summer while also reminding the public about how to prevent pets from getting lost.

Gabriella Dominguez, a representative from the agency, introduced Local 10 viewers to Kim, a 2-year-old American bulldog mix who’s been at the shelter for about two months after coming in as a stray.

“We don’t know what she’s been through before she got to us,” Dominguez said. “But we’ve learned that one — she definitely needs to go on a diet. She’s a little bit of a fake girl, but she is so, so sweet.”

Kim is described as super friendly, affectionate and playful. She enjoys belly rubs, entertains herself with toys, and would likely do well in just about any home.

“She’ll lean right up against you and ask for pets,” Dominguez said. “You give her a ball or something, she’ll play with it all on her own.”

Dominguez emphasized the importance of making a lifelong commitment when adopting pets.

“We want them to be a forever commitment, not just a temporary one,” she said.

Also featured were Ollie, another American bulldog mix who’s been at the shelter for four to five months, and Luna, a senior cat looking for a quiet home where she can relax and nap in peace.

With July recognized as Lost Pet Prevention Month, Dominguez encouraged pet owners to ensure their animals have ID tags and microchips with up-to-date contact information.

“If you do lose your pet, make sure to check out your local shelter,” she added. “There’s a big chance they may have ended up there.”

Anyone interested in adopting Kim, Ollie, Luna, or other animals can visit Miami-Dade Animal Services for more information.
