August 10: Warm, wet Sunday ahead of incoming dry air

Happy Sunday everybody! A big pattern change is on the way for the upcoming week as drier air begins to move in, but it’s not here yet.

One more round of heavy showers and storms is likely this afternoon mainly between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., with things settling down after that. High pressure slowly builds in this week, but there’s still a lot of residual moisture that will allow for some widely scattered showers and storms each day, but the coverage will be a lot less than it’s been lately.

Less rain and more sunshine means hotter weather this week so look for highs into the middle 90s with heat advisories possible each day. Back to school weather for Broward County students looks pretty good tomorrow with only a few morning showers at the bus stop.

In the tropics we’re watching a system near the Cape Verdes tracking to the west and likely to become Hurricane Erin later this week as it churns through the open waters of the tropical Atlantic. It’s way too soon to say where this will eventually wind up but stay tuned to your Weather Authority for updates throughout the week.

Have a great Sunday!
