Sept. 27: Tropical Storm Imelda to brush South Florida with gusty rainbands

It’s all about the tropics for us this weekend! We haven’t seen any threats this season yet, but future Tropical Storm Imelda will pass just to our east by late Sunday, brushing us with a few outer gusty rainbands.

Watch out for some scattered afternoon storms on Saturday (unrelated to Imelda), with highs in the lower 90s as summer weather hangs on.

While the Bahamas will be taking it on the chin Sunday, we’ll be on the weaker side of Imelda with just a few gusty rainbands sweeping through during the day. That appears to be the only impact locally for South Florida, and in fact, drier air will move in behind Imelda for much of next week.

Watch out for scattered afternoon storms and some rough surf at the beaches on Sunday. Otherwise, it looks like we’ll miss most of the impacts from Imelda.
