October 19: Sunny start gives way to possible thunderstorms

While lots of sunshine is in the forecast for your Sunday we’ll notice the weather pattern beginning to change a bit. Winds will shift into the southeast allowing for higher humidity and a weak disturbance to our west will trigger some scattered showers and a few t’storms later today. That chance for a few showers & storms will linger into your Monday but that appears to be the only rain threat through the upcoming week with drier air and lower humidity returning from Tuesday through Friday. Be careful if you plan on making today a beach day, the risk of rip currents is high and there’ll be a few lightning strikes later today too. In the tropics, a disturbance moving through the Windward Islands has a 50% chance of tropical development as it approaches the central Caribbean Sea by midweek. While most reliable models turn it northeast away from South Florida it’s too soon to say with certainty just yet so stay tuned for updates.
