Roaches, roaches everywhere: State shuts down South Florida restaurants after infestations in kitchens and food prep areas

Roaches, roaches, and more roaches!

Leer en español

Inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation shut down multiple South Florida restaurants last week after finding roaches crawling through kitchens, sinks, coolers, food prep areas, and even inside cooking equipment.

Roaches are especially dangerous when found in these locations because they can spread bacteria from drains, trash, and floors directly onto hands, food, and food-contact surfaces, contaminating meals before they ever reach customers.

No places in the Florida Keys were ordered shut last week,

All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered clean up and re-inspection.
