FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The black olive trees planted decades ago along Las Olas Boulevard are a subject of debate for commissioners on Tuesday night in Fort Lauderdale.
The commissioners have to consider a proposed redesign that would get rid of the median where the trees are and widen the sidewalks.
The preservationists, who want to protect the trees’ charm and history, held a “Save The Trees” rally.
As a compromise, some of the supporters of the redesign advocated for planting new trees. Canary Island palms or new oaks were an option.
Watch the meeting at 6 p.m.
