MIAMI — Firefighters used a fire truck to help Santa Claus deliver hundreds of Christmas gifts on Wednesday in Miami.
Miami Fire Rescue and the Miami Firefighters Benevolent Association have been teaming up with Claus for more than seven decades.
“We don’t just drop off the toys. We actually have Santa deliver them to the classroom, and they call each child’s name,“ said Alex Martinez, of the Miami Firefighters Benevolent Association.
Firefighters started gift wrapping, labeling, and loading the donated toys at 8 a.m. at 2980 NW South River Drive. They departed at about 9:30 a.m.
“Spend time, enjoy some memories, and meet people. I think it’s awesome,” Quinton Prince, an MFD recruit, said about his participation.
The first stop was at the Watch Me Grow Learning Center, at 2100 NW 7 St., in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“We thank the community for taking their time to come and visit our school,“ said Kerry Valdes, of the Watch Me Grow Learning Center. ”We are super, super grateful."
