PLANTATION, Fla. — Two teenage boys appeared in Broward County court on Wednesday after a 14-year-old boy was shot outside of school in Plantation.
Detectives had cell phone video showing the group brawl that preceded the shooting on Dec. 8 outside Plantation High School.
Detectives believe one of the armed teens pistol-whipped the victim, a shot was fired, and it struck the victim in the shoulder.
In court, Broward County prosecutors said a 17-year-old boy took the gun and threw it in a nearby canal.
The defense asked for the teens’ release. A judge decided to keep them in detention for 21 days. Their next court appearance is Dec. 30.
The teens face charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, records show.
