Delta Airlines Delta Airlines evacuated a plane on Monday night at Miami International Airport.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to Miami International Airport after passengers evacuated a Boeing 737 before takeoff on Monday.

There was a smoky smell in the cabin of Delta Airlines Flight 1708 before it departed MIA, according to Delta Airlines.

“The passengers were safely evacuated from the plane through the jet bridge and back into the terminal,” said Greg Chin, of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department.

The flight’s destination with 178 passengers and six crew members was John F. Kennedy International Airport.
