Woman faces charges after man was wounded during shooting in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A 34-year-old woman faced three felony charges on Tuesday after a man was wounded during a shooting in Fort Lauderdale, records show.

Shallante Gardner was at the Paul Rein Detention Facility on Tuesday night after the shooting at about 9:55 a.m. on Monday along North Avenue of Arts, near Northwest Ninth Street, records show.

Gardner faced charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, and grand theft of a firearm.

A judge denied her bond on Tuesday and ordered her to undergo a mental health evaluation and to surrender all weapons and ammunition.

Court records show Gardner has an arrest record in Broward County going back to 2009. She was on probation until 2021 over a 2015 drug trafficking case in Hollywood.

Broward County Circuit Judge Peter Holden was set to preside over her new case.
