LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A family in Weston asked the public for help to search for two men who vanished while fishing on Friday off the coast of Florida’s Lee County.

Attorneys Brandon Billmaier, of Weston, and his uncle Randall L. Spivey left fishing on Friday morning and didn’t return on Friday afternoon as planned.

Coast Guard finds empty fishing boat after 2 men vanish

During a search for Billmaier, 33, and Spivey, 57, the U.S. Coast Guard reported finding their empty boat early Saturday morning about 70 miles off Fort Myers.

The boat didn’t have life jackets. The USCG announced the search will be suspended at sunset on Monday.

The USCG crews were leading the search and asked boaters and aircraft pilots volunteering to monitor Channel 16 and report to the USCG Station St Petersburg at 1-866-881-1392.
