Rollover crash involving RV causes Southwest 8th Street to be shut down

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A bad crash between an RV and a Jeep caused a major South Florida roadway to be shut down on Sunday.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a three-vehicle accident between an RV, a Jeep Cherokee and a van took place late Sunday morning on Southwest 8th Street.

The road was shut down between Krome Avenue and State Road 29, near Everglades City.

According to FHP, the RV weas heading eastbound on SW 8th Street and the Jeep was traveling westbound when the Jeep veered into the path of the RV, causing both to swerve in an attempt to avoid a collision.

Unfortunately, the two vehicles collided and overturned, with the RV coming to rest on its side, blocking lanes in both directions.

Troopers said there were two people in the RV and the passenger was taken to a local hospital by air rescue.

A driver and passenger were in the Jeep and both were taken to a nearby hospital.

No injuries were reported in the third vehicle, what troopers described as a little white van. There were no details on how it was involved in the crash.
