MIAMI — Miami Police and Fire Rescue were called to a Florida Power & Light substation Wednesday morning after a worker was shocked while working on a ladder, authorities said.

The incident was reported at the FPL substation at 3701 Bird Road in Coconut Grove.

According to Miami Fire Rescue officials, witnesses said a man was working on a ladder about 8 feet above the ground.

They said wires that were arcing shocked him, causing him to fall from the ladder and suffer a head injury.

The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

A spokesperson for FPL confirmed that the victim is a contractor.

No other details were immediately released.
