MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — U.S. Border Patrol agents detained 17 Cuban migrants who made landfall Saturday morning in the Florida Keys.

Agents said the migrants came to South Florida on a makeshift sailboat.

Authorities did not immediately disclose where in the Keys the migrants were detained.

The migrants are expected to be repatriated to Cuba.

According to Border Patrol officials, agents have responded to more than 60 maritime smuggling incidents in Florida this fiscal year.
