3 hurt after boat crashes into channel marker in Biscayne Bay

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A boat slammed into a channel marker in Biscayne Bay early Friday afternoon, injuring three people aboard.

The crash happened just after noon, west of Miami Beach’s Sunset Islands and just south of the Julia Tuttle Causeway.

Surveillance video shows the front of a Armada pontoon boat slamming into Channel Marker 26 before the vessel split down the middle from the impact.

3 p.m. report:

According to Miami Beach Fire Rescue, the three victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Their ages, genders or conditions have not been disclosed as of Friday evening.

Witnesses told Local 10 News the boat was speeding before it collided with the channel marker, and the impact sent passengers flying.

Officials didn’t provide further details.
