Beyoncé’s mother and father have both survived breast cancer

MIAMI — Beyoncé’s mother and father have both survived breast cancer.

While promoting her new memoir “Matriarch,” her mother, Tina Knowles, disclosed she was diagnosed with stage 1 in July.

Knowles noted that the cancer in her left breast probably could have been detected earlier had she not missed a mammogram.

Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, was diagnosed in 2019. He also tested positive for the BRCA 2 mutation, which increases the risk of breast cancer by up to 85%.

“It’s important not to slack on your mammograms,” said Tina Knowles, the superstar mom to Beyonce and Solange, who was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer last year after a missed mammogram.
