Luis Hernandez, who turned 18 in March, appeared in court on Wednesday accused of trying to kill a fellow South Broward High School student.

Hernandez was a 17-year-old student at South Broward High School when detectives identified him as a suspect in a shooting on Aug. 29, in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood, records show.

Inmate records show Broward County Sheriff’s Office correctional deputies booked Hernandez at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday.

Hollywood detectives first arrested Hernandez on Nov. 20, at South Broward High School, when he was an 11th-grade student, after identifying him as a suspect in the shooting near South Luna Court and 35 Avenue, records show.

Hernandez was awaiting trial for second-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Records show Hollywood police officers also arrested his alleged accomplice Anthony White on Nov. 22, and BSO deputies booked him at the main jail where he remained on Wednesday.

White, 18, was awaiting trial for second-degree attempted murder and possession of a weapon by a felon. He also had a hold for a pending burglary case in Miami-Dade County.
