According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the boy was found alone around 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 18000 block of Northwest 68th Avenue.

Deputies said the family lives on the second floor of an apartment building in the area, and on Tuesday afternoon, Argen Garcia, 37, left her son alone in the apartment while she went to go pick up her daughter from school.

According to the report, the victim opened the front door and wandered into the parking lot.

Deputies said Garcia later arrived home and discovered that her son was not inside their apartment.

Deputies said a maintenance worker had found the boy in the middle of the parking lot and called MDSO.

According to the report, Garcia was located and provided a statement to detectives, however her statement was redacted from the publicly released report.

She was arrested on a charge of child neglect without great bodily harm.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Garcia was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed her bond as “to be set.”
