ICE arrests Haitian man living in U.S. for allegedly contributing to violence, destabilization of his homeland

Pierre Reginald Boulos

MIAMI — Federal law enforcement announced the arrest a Haitian man residing in the United States for crimes impacting the island nation.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations placed Pierre Reginald Boulos under arrest on Thursday.

Officials said the arrest was “for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act contributing to the destabilization of Haiti.”

Boulos is a lawful, permanent resident in the U.S. who was also a citizen of Haiti, officials said.

According to authorities, the U.S. Department of State determined that Boulos’ remaining in the United States could potentially have had “serious adverse foreign policy consequences” which provided officials a basis for removing him from the country.

According to an official release, “Officials determined that he engaged in a campaign of violence and gang support that contributed to Haiti’s destabilization. Additionally, in his application to become a lawful permanent resident, he failed to disclose his involvement in the formation of a political party in Haiti, Mouvement pour la Transformation et la Valorisation d’Haiti, and that he was referred for prosecution by the Haitian government’s Unit for the Fight Against Corruption for misusing loans, supporting an additional ground of removability based on this fraud.”

Officials said Boulos is currently being held inside an ICE detention facility.
