MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — A man died Thursday morning after snorkeling in the ocean off Mile Marker 74 in the Florida Keys, authorities confirmed.
The man lost consciousness around 8:30 a.m. while snorkeling with others, according to Adam Linhardt, a spokesperson with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Linhardt said the man was brought to shore and transported to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the man’s name or age, pending notification of next of kin.
They said foul play is not suspected at this time.
