BLOWING ROCK, N.C. — A South Florida man died Wednesday morning after a hiking accident in western North Carolina.
Police in Blowing Rock, North Carolina said Barry Herbert Dubner, 66, of Parkland, died after falling down a steep embankment along the Glen Burney Trail.
Blowing Rock is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, about two hours northwest of Charlotte.
According to the Blue Ridge Conservancy, the Glen Burney Trail is considered a “strenuous” hike.
“Our thoughts are with Mr. Dubner’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” police said in a news release.
Dubner’s death comes a little more than a week after another Parkland resident died in an outdoor accident out of state.
In late July, 33-year-old Lindsay Bashan was killed in a tubing accident in Deschutes County, Oregon, as she and her group were swept over a waterfall.
