HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Carlos Matias Bonilla turned 18 in September, and he is already a convicted felon with a history of weapons charges in southern Miami-Dade County.
A few days before Christmas, he was on probation when he told a 13-year-old girl that he was selling drugs at the James Archer Smith Park, according to a Homestead police officer’s report.
Police officers arrested him again on Wednesday night at his home in Homestead, and prosecutors filed eight new charges against him on Thursday related to drugs and sex crimes.
Inmate records show Miami-Dade correctional deputies booked Matias Bonilla at 1:25 a.m., on Thursday, at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
For preying on a girl at the park and on Instagram, he faced three counts of lewd or lascivious battery of a child, two counts of aggravated stalking of a minor, and two counts of use of a computer to seduce, solicit, or lure a child to engage in sexual conduct. He was also facing a charge of cocaine possession.
Court records show Matias Bonilla had been out on a felony bond for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Christine Hernandez is set to preside over his three pending cases.
